Born in St. Albert, Canada, Matt Savoie enters the 2024-25 NHL season as one of the NHL’s top prospects. Despite not having hardly any ice time in the NHL yet Savoie has already drawn comparisons to Sidney Crosby and Nathan MacKinnon because of his skating ability and his competitive, hard nosed style of play. Savoie has spent most of his young hockey career playing in the WHL but has also spent some time in 2023 playing in the AHL with the Sabres’ AHL affiliate the Rochester Americans. Savoie would debut with the Americans playing two games in the 2023 Calder Cup Playoffs. Savoie would play with the Americans in the 2023-24 season on a conditioning loan and score 5 points in 6 games. All told, between the NHL, AHL, and WHL, Matt Savoie would play for 5 teams in the 2023-24 season, eventually helping the Moose Jaw Warriors to the WHL championship.
